HOLYOKE

Kenneth Lonnie Atchison, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2021 at Vero Health & Rehab of South Hadley. Lonnie was born in Long Beach, California son of the late Kenneth C. and Edna F. (Tripp) Atchison. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957. Lonnie was a member of the Holyoke Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen (Quirk) Atchison; two daughters: Angela Flynn and her husband Richard of Florida, and Brenda Fox of Florida; a son, Kenneth L. Atchison, Jr. and his wife Gina of Holyoke; two grandchildren: Matthew Atchison and Sarah Fox; two sisters: Sandra Oeltjenbruns and her husband Robert of Colorado, and Coleen Hoyle of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. Lonnie was predeceased by his granddaughter, Alyssa Stevens. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday November 16 at 11:15am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Committal with Military Honors will be held at 1:00pm in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours for Lonnie will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040
