Kevin M. Lukasiewicz, 51, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, on Friday, April 24, 2026. Born in Holyoke on February 9, 1975, he remained a lifelong resident of the city he cherished. Kevin faced a three-year battle with metastatic colorectal cancer with remarkable strength and unwavering optimism. From the beginning, he met his diagnosis with determination, refusing to let it define him. He continued to work each day, often with his “chemo-to-go” at his side - and carried himself in a way that left many unaware of his illness. His quick wit and perfectly timed one liners never faded, bringing laughter to those around him. His resilience and outlook were a source of strength for his family, reminding them to hold on to the good and face challenges together. A graduate of Holyoke High School, Kevin proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He dedicated his professional life to his hometown, working with the Holyoke Department of Public Works, Holyoke Wastewater Treatment Facility, Aquarian Operating Services, Suez Environmental United Water, and Veolia. Through his hard work and commitment, he held a variety of roles that deepened his respect for every aspect of the field and strengthened his ability to collaborate and lead with integrity. He spoke often and fondly of the people he worked alongside, holding his crew in the highest regard. Kevin was a passionate sportsfan, loyal to the Washington Redskins and the New York Mets. He rarely missed a NASCAR race and found true peace on the golf course, where he spent many memory-filled hours. A drive in his corvette could turn any ordinary day into something special.
Above all, Kevin was a devoted husband and extraordinary father. He took great joy in coaching his son Michael in baseball and soccer, and later treasured the time they spent golfing together. He was a constant presence at his daughter Kayla’s soccer, basketball, and softball games, always eager to talk through every play with her. His pride in his children was boundless. He celebrated Michael’s college graduation and the beginning of his teaching career with immense joy, and was ecstatic knowing Kayla would soon graduate and embark on a nursing career in a specialty she loved. His family takes comfort in knowing his presence will continue to guide them through life’s milestones and everyday moments. Kevin is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Michelle L. (Reardon) Lukasiewicz; his children, Michael R. Lukasiewicz and Kayla A. Lukasiewicz, both of Holyoke; his mother and stepfather, Valerie and Richard DeCelle of Florida; his brothers, Matthew Lukasiewicz and Andrew Lukasiewicz, both of Colorado; his stepbrother, Michael DeCelle of Longmeadow; his stepsister Jennifer Moretti of Florida; and his four nephews, Mason Lukasiewicz, Maclain Lukasiewicz, Jaxson Lukasiewicz, and Brooks Lukasiewicz, all of Colorado. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Lukasiewicz of Holyoke.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040, followed by committal prayers at Forestdale West Cemetery, 210 Rock Valley Road, Holyoke, MA.
