Laura E. (Cauley) Kelley Thayer Obituary
Laura E. Cauley Kelley Thayer, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with her husband and family members by her side. Born in Holyoke, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. Cauley and the late Marjorie L. (Burns) Cauley. Laura was a proud graduate of Holyoke High School and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Laura’s life was centered around the love of her family, her friends and her animals. She held her family and friends dearly and loved to visit, to travel and to spend time with them. Laura’s empathy and kindness knew no bounds. She was happiest in her chaise with a dog in her lap, her toes in the ocean sand or when holding hands and snuggling with her devoted husband. Laura and Dick found their love together later in life and were endlessly happy. Laura will be remembered for her great humor and joyful spirit, her sharp wit, her stalwart devotion to family, friends and all of the animals she nurtured throughout her life. She was a dependable person, a decision maker and a true friend. She will be greatly missed by so many. Laura is survived by her beloved husband Dick Thayer, her stepson Jack Thayer, her sister Marjorie (Joseph) Featherstone, N. Grafton MA, her close family friends, Deb and Linda Dawson, Holyoke MA, her Brother-in-law Lance Webb from Eugene OR and many nephews and cousins from MA and OR. She was predeceased by her sister Claire Beekman of Eugene, OR. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Brockport, NY. Online remembrances and condolences may be shared at www.fowlerfuneralhomeinc.com. A celebration of Laura’s life will take place in the spring of 2026.
