Laurie A. Narey, of Okeechobee, FL, formerly from Holyoke, MA, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, surrounded by the love and care of her family and dear friends. Born in Holyoke, MA, April 12, 1963, she was the beloved daughter of Bob Narey and the late Judy (O’Connor) Narey. Laurie’s greatest joy in life was her children: Caitlin Hoess, Olivia Hoess (Sam Einzig), and Ryan Hoess, who survive her and will forever hold her love in their hearts. She is also survived by her father, Bob Narey of Boynton Beach, FL; her sisters, Patti Narey O’Brien and Barbara Narey Lussier (Paul); her brother Bobby Narey (Erin), whom she loving called her favorite; her cherished nieces, Stephanie and Madison O’Brien and Alexis and Delaney Lussier, her beloved nephews, Connor, Jack and Joe Narey. She was predeceased by her mother Judy in 2002. Laurie will be missed by her extended family, including several cousins and her aunts and uncles Betsy and Bob Price, Terri Narey, Ray and Annette Narey, Mickey Narey and Mike Assero. Laurie cherished her lifelong Holyoke friendships with Patty Knox, Jo-Anne Leahy, Jill Reardon, Michelle Robert, Lisa O’Brien, Claire Herron and Margaret McGuire. Their treasured December reunions, as the Goose Rocks crew were a highlight of her year. She also leaves behind dear friends in Okeechobee, Deb and Mike, her breakfast club and her loving companion, Gerry. A proud graduate of Holyoke High School, Class of 1981, Laurie attended Holyoke Community College, and she began her career in food service working at the Oyster Bar in the Yankee Pedlar Inn. She went on to earn her Culinary Arts degree as a Pastry Chef from Johnson & Wales University. Laurie wore many hats while raising her children, entrepreneur, teacher and role model. She launched her own baking business, Sweet Dreams, and taught continuing education classes at HCC. She later found success in sales, first with Campbell’s, where she was recognized as an award-winning sales manager, and most recently with Red Oak. Her work with Red Oak brought her immense pride and joy, especially her travels throughout Italy and her collaborations with Francesco De Querquis and Elizabeth Zukowski, and the entire Red Oak team. Laurie embraced life with passion. She adored her family and her beloved pets, Sunny and Tess. She found joy in music, fishing, travel, karaoke and was a true foodie at heart. Her bright smile and contagious laughter will be deeply missed. A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
