Lawrence E. Pavlat, Sr., age 81, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, son of the late Alois and Katherine Pavlat, and was a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Lawrence was employed at Atlas Copco for many years before retirement. He was a man of few words but had a big heart. He enjoyed his family and especially visiting with his brothers-in-law, Jr., Roger, and Paul Desroches. Lawrence was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet (Desroches) Pavlat. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Kopec and her husband David, and his son, Lawrence Jr. and his partner Albert Pinto. His grandchildren, Cindy and Marissa, were the light of his life. Along with many nieces and nephews, Lawrence also leaves many siblings that will miss him dearly: James Pavlat and his wife Kathleen, Rosaline Armstrong and her husband Lynn, Howard Pavlat and his wife Angie, Gene Pavlat and his wife Marcelina, Anton Pavlat, Gloria Kangas and her husband Tony, Dale Pavlat, and Phillip Pavlat and his wife Debbie. Besides his parents and his wife, Lawrence was predeceased by his sister, Veronica Caskey. The family wishes to thank all of the nurses at Pioneer Valley Heath and Rehab of South Hadley and from Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care of Lawrence. A Funeral Service will be held for Lawrence at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 2nd at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by burial in Saint Rose Cemetery, South Hadley. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
