Liliane E. (Lacaille) Bresnahan, 97, of Holyoke died peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025 on the anniversary of her husband’s passing with her family by her side. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Raoul and Alberta Lacaille. Liliane graduated from Hudson Academy in New Hampshire. She worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Holyoke Public Schools for many years and retired from Mass Mutual. A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Church.

Liliane was very kind, generous, and caring. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to cook and entertain. She especially loved to try recipes she saw Julia Child make on “The French Chef.” Liliane was very proud of her French-Canadian roots and spoke French fluently all her life.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph and John Bresnahan; daughter-in-law, Judy Digris; her grandchildren: Jeremy, David, Alyssa, Garrett, Laura (Anthony), Owen, Jillian, Justin, Jessica, Mary (Jose), Sean, and Keith; her great-grandchildren whom she adored so much: Emiah, Aralyn, Ella, Jaelyn, Jaiden, Khloe, Allison and Rowan, and all her Collamore and Lavelle nieces and nephews, who she loved.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, George Bresnahan; her son Jeremiah; her sister, Doris Lacaille, and daughter-in-law, Luann Bresnahan.

The funeral will be held Thursday, May 8th at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue, Holyoke, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Liliane was incredibly generous and donated to many charities throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Liliane to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to another charity that is close to your heart.
