HOLYOKE: Lois C. (Murphy) McNulty, age 87 of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on November 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph and Cecilia (Rice) Murphy and was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School. She grew up in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and had lived in Holyoke for many years, where she was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of The Cross Parish. Lois worked as a secretary at the Springfield Law Firm of Ellis, Auchter and Brooks, then later at Oliver Auto Body in Holyoke as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was an avid and accomplished golfer who was extremely proud of her hole-in-one at The Orchards Golf Course. Lois enjoyed family, faith, travel, and friendships. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Thomas J. McNulty, on November 24, 2008, as well as seven sisters: Eleanor, Frances, Helen, Gertrude, Irene, Ruth, and Gladys. Lois is survived by two sons, Thomas J. McNulty, Jr. and his wife Christine of West Springfield, and David M. McNulty of Holyoke; and her beloved grandchildren, Emily and Andrew. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 8 at 10:30 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of The Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chicopee Falls. Calling Hours will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, The McNulty Family requests that memorial contributions be made in Lois’s name to The Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, Alzheimer’s Unit, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
