HOLYOKE
Loretta (Kobylanski) Czerniak, age 95, a longtime resident of Holyoke, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Holyoke Health Care Center. She was born in Poland, daughter of the late Pawel and Michalina Kobylanski, and immigrated to the United States with her husband and son in 1949. Loretta worked at Winfield Hats and Holyoke Medical Center until her retirement, and was a faithful communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Parish, now Our Lady of the Cross Parish, in Holyoke. She was a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America and the Polish National Association which honored her with Woman of the Year in 2009. She was the widow of Walter J. Czerniak who predeceased her in 1994. Loretta is survived by her children: Michael and his wife Candace of South Hadley, Henry and his wife Debbie Boyle of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and Helen Breeden and her husband Terry of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister, Stacia Holubecki of Chicopee, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Loretta was predeceased by a son, Edward Czerniak and her siblings: Marian, Zenon, Maria, and Myra. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Service for Loretta on Wednesday, January 12th at 11:00 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in South Hadley. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
