Lucille Moreau Obituary

HOLYOKE

Lucille J. Moreau, age 95, a native of Holyoke, MA, passed away peacefully in Daytona Beach, Florida on June 21, 2021, after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Holyoke and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1942 at the age of 16 and received her degree in Executive Secretarial from Bryant College in 1944 at the age of 18, where she was Sorority President, Sno’ Queen and a member of the basketball team. After college she worked various professional jobs including Monsanto Corp. and the MA Division of Employment Security. She was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Nellie Kida. Lucille was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Leonard W. Moreau in 2016 and her only sister, Evelyn Augustyniak, in 2015.The center of Lu’s life was her family. She gave tirelessly of her time and love, never missing one of her grandchildren’s various sporting events or school functions. No birthday, anniversary, graduation or family event ever passed without an early card from “Babchi”. She always put family first and gave graciously. She had a meticulous list for everything, no item ever out of place or in need of a cleaning. Babchi cherished a sunny day and loved spending time at Old Silver Beach on Cape Cod or Reddington Beach in FL. She loved to bike to stay fit and work in the yard, but mostly she loved spending time with her family. Lucille is survived by her children, Denise Lafrennie and her husband David of Ormond Beach, Florida and Dean Moreau and his wife Susan of Naples, Florida; her beloved grandchildren, Nicole Horne of Haverhill, NH, Andrea Fermanis and her husband Zachery of Somersworth, NH, and Matthew Lafrennie of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her four adored great-grandchildren, Keatyn Horne, Jackson Horne, and Cooper and Cayden Fermanis. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 29th, at 11:30 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke, MA.
