Luke Charles Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD

Luke Charles, age 35, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday November 23, 2020. Luke, son of Henry and Lucie (Gagnon) Charles, was born in Hartford, Connecticut and was a graduate of Westfield High School, Holyoke Community College, and Westfield State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication. Luke was an award-winning photojournalist, winning several awards and recognitions over the years. He had a love for weather and meteorology, photography, dancing, pepperoni pizzas, and the New York Rangers. He felt a special connection to Martha's Vineyard, a place where many magical memories were formed with those he loved. Luke had an unlimited capacity to love family and friends, and always supported the people around him. He could make you laugh and always made people feel like they were the most important person in the world when speaking with him.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family: his parents, Henry and Lucie Charles; siblings: Sarah Charles-Cherner and her husband Jarrett of Brooklyn, NY, and Eric Charles of Providence, RI; his maternal grandmother, Jeannine Gagnon; and many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles and friends he counted as family. Luke was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Lamar and Felicia Charles, and his maternal grandfather Raymond Gagnon.

Due to the current covid pandemic, the family will be holding private funeral services. The family will be in touch regarding a future celebration of his life when we can come together safely. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The Luke Charles Memorial Fund, TD Bank, 969 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.  The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke is handling arrangements.
