M. Sheila (McCann) Ross

HOLYOKE:  Mary Sheila (McCann) Ross, age 91, of Holyoke passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Holyoke Health Care Center surrounded by her family.  She was born in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late John P. and Mary (McCormick) McCann, moved to Newton at an early age, and was educated in the Newton Schools.  A graduate of Bryant College, Sheila had lived most of her life in Holyoke.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends, tennis at the Holyoke Canoe Club and golfing at Springfield Country Club, where she was a member for many years. Sheila was the widow of Ernest J. Ross, who died in 1996.  She is survived by one son, Kevin E. Ross and his wife Margo of Holyoke; three daughters, Kathleen Vetri and her husband Peter of Franklin, NH, Maureen Ross O’Connell and her partner Harry J. Mattson, Jr. of Holyoke, Jackie Glasheen and her husband Liam of Holyoke and daughter-in-law, Kerry Ross of Holyoke.  She also leaves ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Besides her parents and husband, Sheila was predeceased by two sons, Michael F. Ross and Ernest J. Ross, Jr. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 8:45 a.m.  from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Ave. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 17, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sheila to Jericho, P.O.
