Mabel C. (O’Donnell) Poli, age 88, passed away at her home on Sunday April 21, 2024 with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of Holyoke, she was the daughter of the late Michael C. and Mabel E. (Duncan) O’Donnell. She was a graduate of the former Saint Jerome Schools and was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Parish. Mabel worked for many years as a Sale Clerk at both Steigers and Lord & Taylor Department Stores, before retiring to spend more time with her family. She enjoyed summer vacations at Cape Cod, her many trips to the Islands, and her dream trip to Ireland with her three sisters. She always looked forward to the warmer weather so she could sit on her porch and appreciate the beauty of her flower gardens as well as the rose bushes that lined her driveway. Above all, she cherished spending time with Jack, her best friend and dance partner of 65 years. Mabel was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves her three children: Susan Doherty (Philip), Linda Donahue (Kevin), John J. Poli, III (Fran); her grandchildren: Ryan, Nicholas, Courtney, Delaney, Kaitlyn, Benjamyn, Nikki, Ashley, and Lauren; her great-grandchildren: Kylie, Sophia, Hunter, Katie, Jules, Banks, Michael, Lucas, and Jack. She also leaves her two sisters Anne Consedine and Eileen Morin, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mabel was predeceased by her husband Jack, her sister Claire Hurlburt, and her three brothers: Robert, Charles, and Michael O’Donnell. Mabel’s funeral will be held on Monday April 29 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will be held in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday April 28 from 2:00 to 4:00pm in the funeral home.
