Margaret Ott, R.N. Obituary

Margaret Mary Ott, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday January 27, 2020 at Day Brook Village in Holyoke. Margaret was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Bernard Francis and Genevieve Marie (Turner) Ott. She was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School, College of Our Lady of the Elms, and the Providence Hospital School of Nursing. Margaret’s career as a Registered Nurse spanned many years and included work at Good Samaritan Hospital in Selma Alabama, Children’s Hospital of Boston, Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Holyoke V.N.A, and Health New England. She was active in her church community, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holyoke, as well as the Elms Alumni Association, and as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Isaac Mayes in 2015. She is survived by her sister, Clare R. Rigali and her husband Dr. Louis Rigali of Holyoke, brother Ret. Cpt. Matthew Ott and his wife Korki of Florida; 20 nieces and nephews, including Kathleen Sugrue- Richards and her husband Carleton, Donna Sugrue and her husband Charles Long, Michael Sugrue; Gregory Ott and his wife Tracy; Marian Ott and her husband Craig Philip; Bernard Ott Jr and his wife Susan; Christopher Ott and his wife Elizabeth; Joseph Ott and his wife Jeanne; Anne Marie Ott and her husband Edward; David Ott and his wife Kristen; Daniel Ott and his wife Laura as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Bernard F. Ott, Jr. and a nephew, Roger Sugrue. The family would like to thank the staff at Day Brook Village Care Center in Holyoke for all the care and attention given to Margaret over the past several months. All services will be private and handled by the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Margaret to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
