HOLYOKE
Margaret M. “Peggy” (Hennigan) Ferriter, age 90, of Holyoke, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late John W. and Margaret (Sugrue) Hennigan and was a 1947 graduate of the former Saint Jerome High School. Peggy was employed for several years as a Probation Officer at Holyoke District Court and then spent many years at home caring for her family. She was a communicant of Saint Jerome Church and a member of the Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and was Past-President of the Catholic Girls Junior League and Saint Agnes Guild. Peggy participated in fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and was a volunteer for the Annual Catholic Appeal. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Peggy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Attorney Maurice J. Ferriter; two sons, Attorney John J. Ferriter and his wife Attorney Deborah Ferriter of Holyoke, and Dr. Joseph P. Ferriter and his wife Dr. Jennifer Van Horn of Park City, Utah; a daughter, Attorney Mary M. Ferriter of Boston; six grandchildren: Dr. Emmet Pierce Ferriter and his wife Meagan, Katherine Ferriter Hauschild and her husband James, and Conor, Sean, Ryan, and Kelton Ferriter; five great-grandchildren: Keeley, Cora, and Maury Ferriter, and Hadley and Brynn Hauschild; a daughter-in-law, Rosalie Ferriter Moore and her husband Tom of South Carolina; one sister, Mary E. Morin and her husband, Thomas of Holyoke; a brother-in-law, Robert Ferriter and his wife Janine of Holyoke; a sister-in-law, Nancy Ferriter of Holyoke, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by a son, Attorney Maurice J. “Maury” Ferriter Jr., and two brothers, John “Jackie” and Michael J. Hennigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Peggy on Saturday, November 21st at 1 pm at Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will be private. A calling hour will be held at the church prior to the Mass on Saturday from 12 noon to 1 pm.
