Maria Dones, age 68, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Baldomero Dones Rodriguez and Maria Gonzalez-Rodriguez. 

Maria is survived by her husband Jose Rivera; a daughter, Daisy Rentas and her husband Juan Rentas, Jr.; six grandchildren: Christian Caraballo, Anibal Caraballo, Nicholas Rivera, Jaylynn Rentas, Raul Bermudez, Jr., and John Rentas; three great-grandchildren: Jabrielle Caraballo, Jabriyel Caraballo, and Evan Caraballo; and a sister Maria Maldonado. She was predeceased by her daughter Evelyn Rivera and 12 siblings. 

The funeral will be held Friday February 28 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery West, Holyoke. Visitation is on Thursday February 27 from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the funeral home.
