With hearts rooted in faith and love, we announce the passing of Maria V. Maldonado, who was called home to be with our Savior, the Lord on December 28, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on September 9, 1950, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Maria entered eternal rest surrounded by love, now healed, whole, and at peace in God’s presence. Maria was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. Her life reflected God’s grace, strength, and compassion. She prayed constantly, loved fiercely, and trusted God through every season of her life—especially during her most difficult moments. Her faith was her foundation, and she held firmly to the promise of eternal life. Today, we find comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven, embraced by her Savior. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her world. Maria is lovingly survived by her husband, Efrain Maldonado; her children Daniel Maldonado, Marisol Flores and her husband Javier Flores, Efrain Maldonado Jr., and Michael A. Maldonado; her ten cherished grandchildren; and her one precious great-grandchild. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her two God-sent angels, Keila and Aurelie, whose love, compassion, and dedication went far beyond caregiving. Deep appreciation is also extended to the many wonderful aides from Victory Home Health who cared for Maria with kindness and dignity. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Holyoke Hospital for the compassion, care, and comfort shown to Maria during her final days. A special thank you to Dr. Singh, and nurses Meagan and Lauren, whose presence and kindness brought peace to both Maria and her family during her final days on earth. Though we mourn her physical absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life. As Scripture reminds us: “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23) Maria will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Her legacy of faith, love, and strength will live on in all who were blessed to know her. Family and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Friday, January 9, 2026 in Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, follwed by burial in Forestdale West Cemetery, both in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 8th from 4:00 to 6:00pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke.
