Marie J. Cassidy passed away on January 1, 2026 at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on January 22, 1931 in West Springfield to the late Dominic J. Nostin and Erma (Barufaldi) Gladu. Marie attended local schools, graduating from Chicopee High School in 1949. She worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph in her early career, and later worked as a certified travel consultant. Marie and Joe travelled to all parts of the world, but they especially enjoyed their winters in Palmas Del Mar, Puerto Rico during their retirement years. In addition to Joe, Marie is survived by a son, James R. Martelle and his wife Nancy of Chicopee, sister-in-law, Margaret (Cassidy) Thompson and her husband John of Florence, MA and brother-in-law, James A. Cassidy and wife Susan of Holyoke. She is also survived by a special cousin, Joanne Russell of East Longmeadow/Cape Cod, as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are asked to gather on Friday, January 9 at 11:00am in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam for a farewell service for Marie.
