Marie Cohen, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, holding the hand of her beloved husband, Leonard "Lonnie" Cohen.
The daughter of the late Jessie and Irene Morris, Marie was a woman of remarkable loyalty and compassion. She shared 48 years of marriage with Lonnie, a partnership defined by deep devotion. Marie was also a dedicated employee of Avery Dennison for over 40 years, retiring as a materials buyer/planner.
Marie’s true joy was found in nurturing life. A rare orchid grower, she possessed a "green thumb" that brought beauty to everyone around her. Her kindness extended to all creatures; she was a tireless advocate for stray cats and a devoted foster for the Westfield Homeless Cat Shelter. Whether tending to a delicate bloom or a rescued animal, Marie’s heart was always open.
Some of her happiest times were spent camping, where she loved hosting her nieces and nephews, creating lifelong memories in the outdoors.
She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Morris. Her legacy of love continues through her husband, Lonnie; her brother Alan Morris and his wife, Becky; and the many nieces and nephews she was so incredibly proud of.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 26, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marie’s memory to the Westfield Homeless Cat Shelter (1124 East Mountain Rd, Westfield) or the Sister Mary Caritas Cancer Center (271 Carew St, Springfield).
