Mary E. (Eustis) Carmel, age 93, of Southwick, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday August 23, 2025. Born in Victory Mills, NY she was the eldest of six children of the late Joseph and Julia (Stewart) Eustis. Mary was a 1949 graduate of Schuylerville Central School. She then went on to graduate in 1952 from the former Saint Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield MA. She was a dedicated registered nurse for over 40 years, working most of her career at the Holyoke Hospital and her last 10 years at the Holyoke Soldiers Home before retiring in 1998. She loved and cared for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally, always available to help and open to many fun adventures. She was a generous, hard-working and resilient woman.

She is survived by her five children: Suzanne Carmel, Barbara Vorce (George), Thomas Carmel (Debbie), Carol Dziok (William), Robert Carmel (Susan), her five grandchildren: Leslie, Lauren, Rob, Matthew, and Anna and her five great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Daniel, Leah, Nora and Henry. Also left to remember her are her three siblings: Theresa Fontaine, Helen Flood and James Eustis, along with many nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Jean Davis in 1997 and her brother Joseph Eustis in 2012.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 25th at the Notre Dame Visitation Church in Schuylerville NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Mary’s memory to: Schuylerville Public Library, 52 Ferry Street, Schuylerville NY 12871
