Mary Ann (O'Shea) Curran Obituary

Mary Ann Curran died peacefully at her home on December 15, 2025, surrounded by her children. She was born on March 23, 1945, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Flaherty) O’Shea. A lifelong Holyoke resident, Mary graduated from Framingham State University and worked helping others throughout her life as a dietician, a nurse at Western Mass Hospital, and a teacher in the Springfield Public Schools. She loved spending time at Hampton Beach. Mary spent a week there every summer with family, and went as many holiday weekends as she could. Her beach journals have been a treasure for her children, who have gotten to relive all of those trips, even ones they were too young to remember. Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Church, and loved her community at the Holyoke Senior Center where she spent many days doing ceramics with friends. She enjoyed sharing her life with the writing group at the senior center, through writing her life story and the stories of close family relatives. She regularly wrote letters to friends around the world. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Raymond P. Curran, Jr. in 2007. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Curran and Timothy A. Curran of Holyoke, her daughter Debra Lizon, son-in-law Christopher Lizon, a granddaughter Emma Lizon of Springfield, and a sister, Ellen Greaney and her husband Howard of Holyoke. All services were private. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home handled arrangements.
