Mary Kathryn (Moynahan) Czepiel, age 92, of South Hadley, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late Francis C. and Josephine (Bobala) Moynahan. Mary was a 1945 graduate of Holyoke High School and received her Nursing Degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a communicant of Saint Jerome Church in Holyoke. Mary began her career as a Registered Nurse at Providence Hospital then worked for Dr. Edward McHugh for 20 years and retired as a Nurse Supervisor of a Mental Health Clinic at the age of 77. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Czepiel, in 2004, who ran two businesses with his sons. She is survived by two sons; Michael and his wife Kathy of West Springfield and Steven and his wife Mary of Holyoke; a daughter, Kathryn Bennett and her husband David of Chicopee; six grandchildren: Stephanie, Michael, Kristina, Greg, Kevin, and Matthew and eight great grandchildren: Brielle, Lilly, Celeste, Callen, Quinn, Caroline, Jack and Chloe. She also leaves a sister, Frances Bach of South Hadley and Frans daughters: Mary Beth of CT and Carolyn of NC as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. All services are private. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary to Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
