Mary Jo (O’Brien) Moson, age 76, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026.  Mary Jo was born in Holyoke, MA on April 12, 1949 daughter of the late Josephine H. (Dowdall) and John F. O’Brien.  Mary Jo attended Holyoke Public Schools and later moved to Chicopee, MA where she married her husband of 51 years and they started and raised a family.  She worked as a Paraprofessional in the Holyoke Public Schools and retired in 2011.

Mary Jo was predeceased by her sister Constance O’Brien of Holyoke, MA and her brother Timothy O’Brien of Orlando, FL.  She is survived by her loving husband Thomas P. Moson of Chicopee, MA, her two children, Laura Mayuski and her husband Scott of Wilbraham, MA, Thomas Moson and his wife Gayle of Chicopee, MA, and her 5 grandchildren Avra, Max, Chaz, Emily and Anthony, who brought her endless joy and happiness.  She is also survived by her sister Sandra Bassette and her husband Harry of Holyoke, MA, sister-in-law Odette O’Malley of Orlando, FL, her niece and nephew Katie and Timothy O’Brien of Orlando, FL, and her lifelong best friend Donna McCarthy of North Carolina. Mary Jo will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the best wife, mother, sissy, gammy and bestie.

A service will be held on Thursday, February 12 at noon in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
