Mary Barbara Soltys

Mary Barbara Soltys, age 92, of Holyoke, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Holyoke Health Care Center.  She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late John and Mary (Antonich) Soltys and was a 1947 graduate of Holyoke High School. Mary was a retired Buyer for the former Steiger’s Department Store in Holyoke.  She was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church, currently Our Lady of the Cross, where she sang in the church choirs and belonged to many of the parishes social groups and societies. Mary leaves two brothers, George Soltys and his fiancée Betty Gagnon of Chicopee and Dr. John Soltys of Chapel Hill, NC and many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Ann Sadlowski and two brothers, Paul and Joseph Soltys. The funeral will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:30am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley.  Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:30am.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Our Lady of the Cross Parish, 15 Maple Street, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to Hospice Lifecare, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
