Mary Louise (Lynch) Bathelt, age 95, of South Hadley and a long-time resident of Holyoke, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Mary Lou, our mother, was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (Mettey) Lynch, and attended local schools. She graduated from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Mary Lou worked as a Registered Nurse for Holyoke surgeons in private practice during her long career. Summertime at the New England shore and winter skiing always put a twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed 63 years of love and adventure with our late father, Carl Bathelt, and was blessed with a large extended family. Mary Lou is survived by her daughters Sue Jackson (Richard) and Nancy Pare (Mark); her sons: Carl Bathelt Jr. (Cheryl), John (Lee), and Christopher (Mary Kate); her grandchildren: Kate, Bridget, Anna, Jaqueline, Chelsea, Lyndsey, Cindy, and Kurt; and her great-grandchildren: Sam, Max, Lucas, and the “buns-in-the-oven,” Hank and little Chris. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Jean Henderson-Kavanaugh, Betty Crowley, and Barbara Johnson and their families, along with the Murphy nieces and nephews. We wish her God’s grace and a happy heart. The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 5 at 9 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue, both in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 4 from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Holyoke Medical Center.
