SOUTH HADLEY
Maureen Pendergast Brown, 80 of South Hadley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Maureen was born to William and Ann (Reardon) Pendergast on October 23, 1939 in Holyoke MA. She attended the Holyoke Public Schools and was a member of the Holyoke High Class of 1957. She was a long time resident of Holyoke until moving to South Hadley 20 years ago. She spent most of her working life at the Holyoke District Court until her retirement in 2001. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Kathleen Brown and Patricia Dunn (Christopher), both of Holyoke as well as the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Timothy Dunn (Karissa) of Easthampton, Maureen Dunn (James) and Michael Dunn (Analucy) both of Holyoke. She also leaves her sisters in law Karen Matz (Arnold) and Moira Craven (Ernest) as well as her nieces and nephews William and MiSuk Pendergast, Karen and Ken Dupre and Marybeth Pendergast. She will also be missed by her lifelong friends, Janice Allard, Nancy Sullivan and Patricia Devine. Her kitty Penny gave her much comfort in the last days of her life. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by the father of her daughters, James Brown, her brother William (Estelle) Pendergast as well as her niece Jo Anne Lobik. Her daughters would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Nicole Lempke, RN and Laurice Charles, CNA of Beacon Hospice. Their compassionate care and support helped the entire family through a very difficult time. Her funeral will be held Monday December 9 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am in St. Patrick’s Chapel of St. Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street, Holyoke. Burial to follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday December 8 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in her memory to the CHD Cancer House of Hope at 1999 Westfield St., West Springfield MA 01089 / www.chd.org.
