Melide C. Normand, age 98, of South Hadley, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 8, 2025. She was born on March 14, 1927 in Holyoke Massachusetts to her late parents, Arduino and Feni Domenici. Melide was a 1944 graduate of Holyoke High School and went on to The University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Education. Melide was a certified Medical Assistant to several area doctors including, Dr. Daniels, Dr John J. Burke and Dr. Michael Levine where she finally retired from in 1994. Melide volunteered for several years at Saint Franciscan Sisters of Assisi and the South Hadley Senior Center, and had received a Prestigious Presidential Award from President Obama for the most volunteered hours. Besides her parents, she was predeceased her first husband, Norman T.J. Beaulieu in 1959; her second husband, Paul Normand in 1992, her son, Mark N. Normand, eight months ago on September 18, 2024, her brother, Dr. Trento Domenici in 1998, her first companion, Richard Corriveau in 2011 and her last companion, Kenneth Williams in January of 2024. She leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Normand, three grandchildren: Faith Normand White (Michael), April A Goulet, and Christopher Normand (Marni); six great grandchildren: Jacob, Robert, Samantha, Abigail Melide, Noah and Evan, three great greatgrandchildren: Luca, Kora and Stella. Melide also leaves several nieces and nephews including: Trice, Larry, Gina and Martha; her best friend, Ola Hebert and several other awesome friends. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, MA. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Donations may be made in memory of Melide to The Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi, 1039 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040-1320 or to the Friends of the South Hadley Senior Center, Box 55 South Hadley, MA 01075. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.
