Nancy Theresa (Dean) Konis, 84, of Holyoke, MA died Monday, June 16, 2025 in her home. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Eugene J. and Nora E. (Fitzgerald) Dean. Nancy was a 1960 graduate of the 1st graduating class of the newly built Cathedral High School on Surrey Rd in Springfield. Nancy was a devoted, faithful servant of God and had a very strong Faith that she practiced and lived by every day. She was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. She especially enjoyed the years she spent cleaning and preparing the Altar for Mass. At home she said the Rosary, watched the Mass and prayed for her Family & Friends daily. Nancy retired after 24 years from Fashion Plus American Discount Clothing, Main St, Springfield, in 1998. She was highly respected as Assistant Manager and ‘unofficial Store Security Officer’ where she showcased her admirable traits of being Honest, Loyal, and Dependable. After that she worked at Kelley’s Deli, downtown Springfield and enjoyed making the best sandwiches for her customers. Nancy loved her sports, especially the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, College Football (Nortre Dame), and College Basketball (Duke). Bingo with her Sisters and going to the Casino to play the slot machines were 2 of her most loved pastimes but her favorite was playing games and cards with her Siblings and Family. She valued the fun times she had growing up in Jackson Parkway in Holyoke. Nancy was loved very much and leaves behind her Brothers James “Jimmy” Dean of Florida, John “Jack” and his wife Dianne, Michael “Mickey” Dean, Sister-in-Law Ella Dean, 15 Nieces & Nephews, 28 Great Nieces & Nephews, 3 Great Great Niece & Nephews, many of whom consider her their 2nd Mom or Grandmother, and her dear Friends at Elmwood Towers. Nancy is predeceased by her Husband Robert Konis, Brother Gene Dene, and Sisters/Best Friends Barbara Dean, Patricia (Dean) Young, and Maureen (Dean) House, Brother-in-Law Owen Young, Sister-in-Law Kathy Dean, and her Niece/Goddaughter Sharon House. Funeral procession will begin at 10:30am on Monday, June 23, 2025 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery, all in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00am to 10:30am at the funeral home.
