Natalie A. (Coelho) LeCours Obituary

Natalie A. (Coelho) LeCours, age 86, a longtime resident of South Hadley, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Natalie was born in Holyoke as the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Almeida) Coelho, she was an alumna of the Westfield State University education department where she found her passion in education. Natalie started off her career at Chapin School in Chicopee, Mater Dolorosa in Holyoke, Carew Street School, and Michael E. Smith Middle School in South Hadley. Natalie devoted over 40 years to teaching and influenced many students’ lives through her role as an educator, as well as a life mentor.

Her greatest love was without a doubt her husband, Robert. They were inseparable right up to his passing in 2018. “Rob” and “Nat” loved traveling, trying new restaurants, volunteering, and spending time with their loved ones. They had four wonderful children together and dedicated their lives to the community, their families, and to each other.

Natalie shared her unconditional love and comfort as a mother and grandmother, being a role model and a source of strength to her family. Being a grandmother brought Natalie true joy and she played a key role in her grandchildren’s upbringing - teaching them, loving them, and guiding them.

Later in life, Natalie found joy in painting, coloring, and spending time with friends and family. She will be greatly missed, but the memories she created, the advice she gave, and the comfort she provided will continue on through her children, niece, grandchildren, and all of those who had the pleasure of having her in their lives.

She was the widow of Robert P. LeCours, her greatest love, who predeceased her on April 26, 2018. Natalie is survived by her four children: Robert M. LeCours and his partner, Jan Bugbee; David J. LeCours and his partner, Rosa Clark; Elizabeth A. Nowicki and her husband, Robert Nowicki; and Michael J. LeCours and his wife, Erica LeCours. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Robert "Robbie" Nowicki; Lauren LeCours; Collin and Alyssa Stearns; and Courtney LeCours and her wife, Jordan. In addition, Natalie is survived by her niece and best friend, Nancy Perry, and Nancy’s partner, Richard Solais.
