Noelia Aponte Hernández

With great sadness we announce that Noelia Aponte Hernández of Holyoke, Massachusetts joined the Lord on May 16, 2022 surrounded by her adoring family. Noelia was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on June 7, 1941. She was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Noelia leaves behind her loving husband, Modesto Sánchez of 64 years, and their children: Wilfredo, Rosa, Myrna, Nancy, Lenny, Denis, Heidy, Stephanie, and Wesley. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Felipe and Carlos, and also leaves behind her siblings: Luis, Miguel, Raul, Benilda, Pedro, Amparo, and Jose. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson, along with several nieces and nephews. In the early 1990’s, Noelia and Modesto were recognized for outstanding foster service by the Massachusetts Association for Professional Care. Noelia will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by all those who knew her. The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 19th at 9:00 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
