Pauline M. (Gaudrault) Symasko, RN, 96, passed away on February 3, 2025 at The Reserve in East Longmeadow. She was born on September 18, 1928 in Concord, New Hampshire to Joseph and Mary Gaudrault. She is predeceased by her husband Edmund Symasko (2015) and all her siblings; Maurice, Robert, Bernard, Marcel, Raymond, Elizabeth, Cecile, and Teresa.  Pauline is survived by several nieces and nephews from the Gaudrault and Symasko families in which she treated everyone as if they were her own children. She lived in Holyoke most of her life and, because of Edmund's career with the National Armories, lived several years in Illinois and New Jersey. Pauline and Edmund's final residence was on their estate in Granby. She graduated from the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing, continued working as a head nurse, then as an instructor at the School of Nursing. Pauline ended her career at Holyoke Hospital as the Director of Volunteers. She served as a Eucharistic minister and Lector for the Mater Dolorosa Parish and later for the Our Lady of the Cross Parish. After retirement, Pauline's true compassion came to light as she became the caretaker for many relatives and friends during their final stages of life. Pauline lived a life filled with faith, joy, compassion and love. She had a very positive attitude and was always encouraging people to pursue their dreams. She was very proud of the fact that she never told a lie and lived an honest and truthful life. Pauline was a lover of nature and frequently fed birds and resident animals on her Granby property. She was a talented artist and enjoyed family gatherings, in which she always provided a good laugh for everyone. There will be a mass celebrating her life on February 12 at Our Lady of the Cross at 10 a.m. There will be a private burial in the future. Donations may be made to the Dakin Humane Society.
