We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Pauline Florence (Pronovost) Vallan announces her passing on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the glorious age of 95. Pauline was born on December 13, 1925 in St. Tite, Quebec, Canada to her loving parents Rosario and Margaret (King) Pronovost. She came to Massachusetts in 1947 where she met the love of her life and was married after a brief courtship. She lived in the area until moving to Florida with her husband George and son Michael in 1957 where they lived until 1963, then returning to Western, MA where she remained until her death.
She worked for many years as a waitress at the former Howard Johnson’s in West Springfield, the Ramada Inn in Springfield and also for a short time at the Doughnut Dip in West Springfield until she retired at the age of 75. Pauline loved music and always had the radio playing or better yet, a CD recorded by her sons. She also loved watching them perform live with their band.
She was an avid candlepin bowler, and was quite proud of her average of well over a 100 for most of her years at play. She had a winning record and loved bowling in tournaments, the excitement and competition of it all. Pauline loved to win but always encouraged her competitors as well!!
Pauline is survived by her two sons, Michael Vallan and his wife Sheryl, Stephen Vallan and his fiancé Monika, all of Chicopee. Her remaining siblings are Bill, Patsy and Winnie, all living in Quebec, Canada. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Matthew Vallan and his wife Andrea of West Springfield, Nicole Demers and her husband Jeff of West Springfield, and Katrina Gendreau and her husband Zack of Holland, MA as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Henry Vallan and Madelyn Gendreau. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George M. (Vlohiotis) Vallan, and eight siblings, three sisters (Gertrude, Rose and Dorothy) and five brothers (Rosaire, Jim, Claude, Patrick and Eddie).
Pauline will be sadly and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, family and friends alike. Per her wishes, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Dakin Humane Society, Animal Shelter in Springfield, MA.
