Peter J. Hogan Obituary

Peter was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of man—larger than life, endlessly curious, fearless in spirit, and unforgettable to anyone who crossed his path. To know him was to laugh, to be surprised, and to walk away with a story you would tell again and again. He will be profoundly missed by his family and the many friends whose lives were brighter for having known him.

Peter was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, James A. Curran Division 1, Holyoke Chapter, an organization close to his heart. His Irish spirit showed up in full force each year at the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade, where he was dedicated to building the AOH parade floats and was famously known for his green mustache, a memory all its own.

An outdoorsman at heart, Peter loved boating, adventure, and exploring wherever his curiosity led him, even to places he probably wasn’t supposed to be. Throughout his life, he was known as “Evel Knievel,” a nickname that perfectly captured his daring spirit and love of pushing limits.

Peter was a real-life MacGyver, with an unmatched ability to fix, build, or invent just about anything. He viewed the world in a way no one else quite could, creative and unconventional.

Never one to slow down, Peter stayed busy at The Big E, cruising the grounds in his big blue golf cart and greeting all those who rode along with warmth, humor, and genuine interest. He had a rare gift for conversation, connecting with people instantly and leaving them smiling long after.

One of his lifelong dreams was to own a Harley. He lived that dream fully, logging countless adventures that became part of his legend.

Peter was kind, funny, adventurous, and endlessly interesting—the coolest guy you’d ever hope to know. He leaves behind a legacy of family well loved, laughter, ingenuity, Irish pride, and unforgettable stories.
