Ralph S. Whitelock, age 88, of Holyoke passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Stanley and Merina (Brizard) Whitelock. Ralph was a 1955 graduate of Holyoke High School and had attended Holyoke Community College. He worked for Lapinski Electric for 25 years and later for Haas Electric for more than 23 years as an Electrician, retiring in 2004 from Haas Electric as a Project Manager. Ralph was a longtime member and past Purser at the Holyoke Canoe Club and belonged to the IBEW. Louise H Whitelock, age 86 of Holyoke passed away one week later on January 30, 2025 with her family by her side. Also born in Holyoke, MA she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Harris and was a 1956 graduate of Holyoke High School. She married Ralph the same year and recently celebrated 68 years together. After raising their children Louise got a certificate from HCC and entered the workforce at Holyoke Geriatric Authority as an administrative assistant in the Physical Therapy Dept until her retirement. They are survived by their 6 children: David R. Whitelock and his wife Laurie of Southwick, Donna M. Abad and her husband Brian of Chicopee, Diane L. Parda and her husband Joseph of Westfield, Douglas S. Whitelock and his wife, Robyn of Westfield, Dennis L. Whitelock and his wife Melissa of Holyoke, and Darryl Whitelock and his wife Debra of Westfield, as well as 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also survived by Louise’s sister Joan Reardon, brother Larry Harris, several cousins, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Daybrook Village and Holyoke Hospice for their compassion and excellent care of both Ralph and Louise. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, both in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held Monday, February 10, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Ralph and Louise Whitelock to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or Holyoke VNA and Hospice, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
