HOLYOKE: Richard D. Geraghty, age 59, of Holyoke, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born in Holyoke, a son of the late William J. and Helen (Vershon) Geraghty and was educated in the Holyoke schools. Rich was employed for many years in the Parts Department at Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Chicopee and was a proud member of the Sons of American Legion Post #325 in Holyoke. He was always a jokester who enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and traveling each Fall to Vermont with his family. Rich is survived by three sisters: Eileen Paquette (Stephen), Marylou Geraghty (James O’Brien), and Sheila Murray; three brothers: Stephen (Lisa Darga), Kevin (Jean Champagne) and Christopher Geraghty (Karen Freniere); and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Rich was predeceased by two brothers: William J. Geraghty, Jr. and Robert P. Geraghty. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 14th at 9 am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 13th from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rich’s memory to Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, 30 Locust Street, Northampton, MA 01060.
