Rita A. (Henn) Nelson

Rita A. Nelson, age 91, of Chicopee, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026. She married Melvin L. Nelson, Sr. in 1956 and they had four children, Melvin L. Nelson, Jr. (Karen), Michael L. Nelson, predeceased, Denise Moore (Robert), and Doreen Nelson (Michael Wingfield). She has 3 grandchildren, Maisha Lamoureux (Brandon), Michealee and Lamar Nelson. She has 2 great grandchildren, Ella and Grace Cavanaugh. 

Rita had a large family and many friends. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, smile, and her signature "red hair". She was a caretaker for many people and will be sadly missed by her friends and family.

There will be a burial service at St. Jerome Cemetery, 1666 Northampton Street, Holyoke on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:00am.
