Robert Francis Cassidy “Bobby” passed away fittingly on Masters Sunday April 14, 2023. Golf blood lines run deep in Bobby’s family, his Great Grandfather Jock Hutchison was a 2011 Golf Hall of Fame Inductee with 14 career PGA Tour wins including a PGA (1920) and Open Championship in (1921), Jock was the first honorary starter at the Masters Tournament in 1959. Bobby was raised by his Grandfather Johnny Banks the long-time golf professional at Mt Tom CC and builder of Shaker Farms CC in Westfield. Bobby was the medalist in the 1951 Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship, conning his way into the tournament with his “fake” brother (doesn’t have a brother), he was a 6-time four ball champion, 3-time club champion over three different decades, had 8 holes in ones and was a 60+ year member of Holyoke CC. Bobby was a 1952 graduate of Holyoke High School where he lettered in Basketball and Golf. Bobby retired from the State of MA, Division of Insurance as a Hearings Magistrate. Bobby is pre-deceased by his wife of 58 years Joyce E. Cassidy (OSullivan) (Jan 2023) and Brother-in Law Thomas R. OSullivan. Bobby is Survived by his Nephew Kerry OSullivan (Mary) of Hatfield, Ma who cared for him during his final 6 months of life. Bobby is also survived by 3 children, Kevin Cassidy (Barbara), Linda Landry (Gordie), and David Cassidy (Cindy Leblanc), 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren, Mary A OSullivan of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL and two dear friends Don Johnson and Breen Fallon. Donations in Bobby’s memory may be made to the Thomas J O’Connor Animal Center, 627 Cottage St, Springfield, Ma 01104. A graveside service will be held at St Jerome’s Cemetery, Northampton St. Holyoke, MA on May 17th at 10am family and friends are welcome to attend.
