Robert Czaporowski Obituary

Robert “Bob” Czaporowski, 71, of Chicopee, MA entered eternal rest on December 29, 2021 at Holyoke Hospital after experiencing COVID complications. He died with his daughters and sisters by his side. He was born in Springfield on October 2, 1950, the son of the late Frank and Stefania Czaporowski and grew up in the  Willimansett section of Chicopee.  Bob embraced many roles in his lifetime; he was a son, father, husband, partner, friend, religious man, and most recently a grandpa. His enthusiasm for life led him to be a poet, Patriot, volunteer, and a "can-do" man. He was best known for his desire to help others with a humble heart. When he wasn't helping others, he could be seen showcasing his talent as a ballroom dancer, or listening to the blues. Robert was an avid proponent of holistic medicine, particularly light therapy and natural remedies.  Robert was a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He was a claims adjuster for Hanover Insurance Co., and after retiring, he evolved his hobby as a handyman into a small business. Robert used his craftsmanship skills to volunteer with his local community organization, the Willimansett Heights Improvement League, by participating in neighborhood clean-ups and improving neighborhood properties. Grandpa Bob, as he was known to his grandchildren, would spend time showing off his tools and making small wood crafts, allowing the kids to play in his truck, and putting his grandson Julian in the lift bucket! Grandpa Bob enjoyed kicking the soccer ball with James and Ella when they visited. More recently, he welcomed twin grandchildren, Ada and Liam who are younger siblings to Julian.  He loved his family very much. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Stefania Czaporowski, and his Russian Blue cat, Rubinoff/Gray. He is survived by his three sisters, Sandra Heap and her husband Peter, of Southwick MA, and twin sisters Jane and Joan Czaporowski of Manchester CT and his long- term partner, Carol Borsari of Wallingford, CT.  Robert also leaves his former wife, Susan Lambert of Granby, MA and their four daughters, Lynn Czaporowski and her partner Sean Gilrein of NYC, Lauren and Micheal Pekala of W. Warwick RI, and twin sisters Jill “JC'' and Sarah “Sari” Czaporowski of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Julian, Ada and Liam Gilrein of NYC, and James and Ella Pekala of RI as well as several nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He is "sleeping like a hundred angels." We would like to thank the Holyoke Hospital Center ICU staff for their enduring care, compassion, and support for COVID patients. We encourage those with COVID to seek early treatment especially those who are most at risk for complications. A private Celebration of Life will be held in the future for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WHIL (Willimansett Heights Improvement League) and sent to: WHIL 175 Mt. Vernon Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
