Robert G. Engelson, age 94, of Holyoke, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Daybrook Village. He was born in Springfield, son of the late John and Mary Rose (Szymonik) Engelson, and was educated in the Holyoke and Westfield schools. Bob was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater, and attained the rank of Sergeant. He had been employed at the former Springfield Armory and later worked for 33 years as a machine operator at Uniroyal in Chicopee, retiring in 1981. He was a longtime South Hadley resident, and was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Bob was the widower of Yvonne M. (Collins) Engelson, who passed away on March 2, 2012. He was also predeceased by a son, Gregory R. Engelson in 1995. Bob is survived by three daughters: Christine Engelson of South Hadley, Cynthia Picariello and her husband Donald of Ludlow, and Jo-Ann Engelson and her fiancée Damaso Vazquez of Holyoke; five grandchildren: Jason and his wife Ryan (Bergeron) Mainville, Christopher and his wife Bella (Barroso) Mainville, Meaghan Couture, Robert Engelson and Shannon (Engelson) Lane and her husband Zack; several great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Katie Engelson. A calling hour will be held on Monday, September 28th from 10 to 11 am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. All other services will be private.
