Robert W. Jolly, Jr., son of the late Robert and Shirley (Chartier) Jolly, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Holyoke on Friday, September 9, 2023. Rob was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School, Class of 1971. He furthered his education at Holyoke Community College, University of Maine, and Ohio State University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. After receiving his degree, Rob was a professor of Criminal Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City and at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. He lived in New Jersey for many years before returning to Holyoke after the loss of his wife, Susan. Rob was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Northampton, where he was very active in his Parish. He served as a Sacristan and Eucharist Minister, as well as led the weekly Communion Service. He also led the Communion Service at Christopher’s House in Northampton, taught Faith Formation classes, and was a member of the Parish Council. Rob was always available to serve his Parish and will be greatly missed. He touched many lives, not only at his Parish, but throughout his life as well. Rob is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and Steve Lachowetz of South Hadley, and his cousin and best friend, Patty Silverman of Northampton. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends. Rob is now reunited with his late fiancé, Trish Belisle. A funeral Mass will be held for Rob on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Northampton. A calling hour will precede the Mass beginning at 9:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Northampton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation to support breast cancer research and to help patients who are suffering with the disease. Donations can be made online at Komen.org or mailed to the Foundation at 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801880, Dallas, TX 75380. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke is handling arrangements.
