Robert F. Kane, Jr. Obituary
Robert F. Kane, Jr., age 63, died November 5, 2024 surrounded by his children. Robert was born in Holyoke, son of Jane V. (Michalik) Kane and the late Robert F. Kane, and was a 1979 graduate of Holyoke High School and then Western New England College. Rob is survived by his mother, Jane V. Kane; a daughter, Brittney Kane of Ohio; two sons Aidan Kane and Devan Kane; three sisters: Paula Lunney, Kathleen Kane, and Margo Kelly; his former wife Martha Murphy Kane, and several nieces and nephews.
Rob loved being a member of the Holyoke community serving as the tax collector for almost two decades. Rob was also a proud member of the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, and served as President in 2009. The only thing Rob loved more than his city, was his children and family. Whether he was playing a round of golf with his son Devan at Wyckoff Country Club where he was a member since 1972, watching one of his favorite movies, Caddy Shack, with his son Aidan, or telling anyone who would listen about his daughter’s animal sanctuary she founded, nothing made him prouder than being their father. The landscape of his family will be forever changed, and his presence will be gravely missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Foreverland Farm Animal Sanctuary, a cause that meant a lot to Rob at www.foreverlandfarm.org.
