Robert E. Williams, 88, of Southampton, passed away peacefully in his home after a long illness on May 22, 2021. Born in Holyoke, he attended Holyoke schools. After graduating from Holyoke High School, he served at Westover Air Force Base as an Airman 2nd Class. At the age of 23 he started his own business, “Williams Auto Sales” of Holyoke in which his son Scott along with his grandson Bobby (3rd generation), and partner Charlotte Ehret worked with him until his retirement at the age of 81. He will be remembered for his love of the ocean, boats, and antique cars as well as spending time with his family. He leaves behind his beloved partner Charlotte Ehret and her children Stacy and Stephen Powers and their daughter Cassidy; and Jennifer Ehret and her children Tyler and Kaelin Jaeger of Southampton; he will be sadly missed by his children Scott Williams and his wife Jeannette of South Hadley, and John P. Williams and his partner Kim Cormier of Easthampton; his beloved grandchildren Robert S. Williams II of South Hadley, Amy Sinico and her husband Rob of Gloucester, MA, Matthew Williams and his wife Sara of Franklin, MA; three great-grandchildren: Ellie, Morgan, and Owen; and his devoted brother and sister Ken Williams of South Hadley and Marilyn Wilson of Holyoke, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, on Tuesday June 1, 2021 at 11:00am. Burial to follow in Forestdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be held that morning from 9:00 to 11:00am.
