Robert H. Wohlers, 78, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2021. Robert acquired many nicknames through the years and was known as Buddy, Dad, Opa, Bro, Baba Booey, Bud Dog, The Breeze, Itchy Brother, King of Trash, Frodo Baggins, Little Brother, Zabba, The Beak and Bob the Slob. Buddy was born on July 22, 1942, in Holyoke to the late Robert G. Wohlers and Rita (Tessier) Caporale. He is survived by his children and stepchildren, Dawn Cadigan (James), Lana Parent (Richard), Robyn Donovan (Dennis), Robert “Dewey” Murphy (Elizabeth), Romy Murphy, his grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicole, Amanda, Patrick and Michael, and two great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by Kim (Wohlers) Marino and Jody Wohlers as “Daddy Buddy”. He also leaves behind his companion of 34 years Ellen Rivera and her children, Michelle, Steven, and Charlie.
He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Roberta LaPlante (Alan), Fred Wohlers, William Wohlers (Deanna), Christine Evans, Patricia Peloquin (Roy), James Caporale, Donna Mainville (Louie), Kim Favarato, Curtis Wohlers (KK), Wendy Pelletier (Mike), G. Nick Wohlers, his loving stepmother Lorraine Wohlers, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. He was predeceased by his stepson, Patrick Murphy and his brother-in-law, Charles (Wolfie) Evans.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country in Vietnam. He retired as a supervisor with the Holyoke DPW. Buddy loved Westerns and a good Mel Brooks Film. Most of all, Buddy loved to laugh with his family and friends. Our father was a unique man. “Buddy did his own thing,” it was that simple.
A heartfelt thank you to his visiting nurse, LeeAnn Whalley, for all her outstanding care to our Dad.
Services will be private and held at the Agawam MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date when we can all gather safely together.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made “In Memory of Robert Wohlers” to Autism Connections, 116 Pleasant St. Ste 366, Easthampton, MA 01027.
Miss you already Dad.
