Roger Joseph Girard Obituary

Roger J. Girard, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on June 1, 1946, Roger was a proud Air Force veteran and a dedicated retiree of the United States Postal Service (USPS). He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Cecile (Cote) Girard, his two brothers, Raymond and Richard, as well as his five sisters: Beatrice, Ida, Flourette, Louraine, and Linda. Roger will be deeply missed by his loving wife and daughter, Angela Manning and Dawn Hines (Dan). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Dottie and Barbara Brouillette and Alice Girard, and brothers-in-law Leo and Raymond Brouillette. He was loved by his nieces, Jess Rutkowski (Luke), Jen Alli (Glenn), and Gail Mendoza, and his nephew, Chris Brouillette who each held a special place in his heart and were a cherished part of his extended family. He leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A man who found joy in simple pleasures, Roger had a deep love for nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, and biking, and he was often seen walking the Holyoke Mall, where he greeted familiar faces with a smile and a kind word. Roger’s sense of adventure was matched only by his love for family outings, the many gatherings with friends that he looked forward to, and his passion for good food. Whether dining out at his favorite restaurants or enjoying a home-cooked meal, Roger truly appreciated the joy of a delicious meal shared with friends and loved ones. Roger was a man of great character, always ready with a helping hand or a good laugh. His kind heart and warm spirit will be missed by all who knew him. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his family and friends, but his memory will continue to live on in their stories, laughter, and the lasting impressions he made on each of their lives.

Burial will be held at 9am on Thursday, September 18, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A brunch will follow to honor Roger’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund in his memory at KidneyFund.org. Rest in peace, Roger. You will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
