Ronald Gagnon Obituary

Ronald Gagnon, age 59, of Holyoke, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, January 26th, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Lucille Gagnon and his sister, Susan Albert. He leaves his nieces: Sherry Mayer, Lori Maldonado & her husband Alexander Maldonado; his great nephews: Carson Mayer, Eli Malave, Devin Colon and Devin's longtime girlfriend Emily Desmarais; and his many cousins who all adored him. Ron's smile and his laughter were infectious. He learned to play music by ear as a child. He was the entertainer at family gatherings, Jericho dances and Willimansett Center over the years, where he was always the best dressed at the party. He was a lover of life, music, drawing, shopping and collecting memorabilia. His smile was infectious and he loved spending time with his family, going to Red Sox games with his cousin Gary Bernard, shopping trips with his cousin Connie Pijar and family game nights. Ron's younger days were spent at Jericho where he took part in their programing and always had fond memories of his time there. In the last few years of his life, Ron found Sunshine Village. The transformation and the joy Sunshine Village brought Ron was heartwarming. He was truly living his best life! His family will forever be grateful to the staff and the members of Sunshine Village. We know that he is up in heaven rocking with his idol, Elvis Presley! He will be missed everyday by all his family and friends. His nieces will think of him every day with smiles on their faces. We love you Ron. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be scheduled in the spring. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s honor to Jericho, P.O. Box 1039 Holyoke, MA 01041 or to Sunshine Village, 75 Litwin Lane, Chicopee, MA 01020.
