Ronald G. Jendrysik, age 84, of Chicopee, died peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Holyoke, a son of the late Louis and Maryann (Dunaj) Jendrysik and attended Mater Dolorosa Grammar School. Ron was a 1957 graduate of St. Jerome High School where he was a standout all-star football player known as “Fly.” He was an accomplished Boy Scout and eventually served as a Scoutmaster for several years for Holyoke Troop 622. Ron is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served from 1958 to 1960. He later coached football at Holyoke Catholic High School in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. In 2013 Ron was inducted into the Holyoke Catholic High School Hall of Fame. He was employed for many years at James River (Rexham) Graphics, retiring in 2002. Ron was a devoted, faithful, and longtime communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Parish, where he was a member of the church choir, Holy Name Society, and volunteer at the annual church festivals. Upon the closure of Mater Dolorosa Church, Ron became a parishioner at Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Martha P. (Matuszek) Jendrysik, daughter Paula Lamarre and husband Leonard of Chicopee, son Ronald J. Jendrysik and wife Lyn of Millbury, and five grandchildren: Nicholas and Rachel Lamarre, Emma, Ava and Anabelle Jendrysik. He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Sr. Elizabeth Matuszek, SSJ and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by seven siblings: Louis, Joseph, Richard, Paul, Daniel, Edward, and Annemarie Jendrysik. The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 16th at 10:15 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 8:15-10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Sisters of Saint Joseph, 566 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104 or to a charity of one’s choice.
