HOLYOKE Ronald Moussette, Sr., of Holyoke, Massachusetts passed away on December 30, 2021 at the Elaine Center in Hadley, MA. He was 89 years old. Ronald was the son of the late Alphonse and Alice (Mercier) Moussette, and graduated from the former Rosary High School, class of 1950. He leaves his wife of 69 years Barbara (Donah) Moussette of Holyoke, MA. He was predeceased by his brother Philip and his sister Lila Hersom. Ronald was a corpsman with the U.S Navy and he was assigned to the USS Hickok and he was proud to serve his country. After leaving the service he was employed at the Holyoke Gas and Electric where he retired. In addition, he was an active member of the community which included being a baseball coach for his children’s teams. Ronald was a lifetime member at the Holyoke Elks. He enjoyed spending his summer vacations at the beach with his family and extended family. In addition to his wife, Ronald also leaves his four children Karen Taylor of Juno Beach, Florida; Ron Moussette and his wife Donna of York, Maine; Richard Moussette of South Hadley, MA and Steven Moussette and his wife Leanne of Southampton, MA. He also leaves his six grandchildren Jennifer Thomas, and her husband Justin; Dan Moussette and his wife Liz; Ashlee Sypek and her husband Tyler; Brianna Moussette and her fiancé Chris; Chelsea Moussette and Stevie Moussette. Ronald is also survived by six great grandchildren; Jacob, Bridgit, Lucas, Bryan, Blake and Brooke. Ronald was a proud “Pop” and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Funeral will be held Thursday, January 6th at 10:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Committal with US Navy Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 5th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ron to Alzheimer’s, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452 or Our Lady of the Cross Parish, 15 Maple Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
