Rosemary B. (Broderick) O'Connor

Rosemary B. (Broderick) O’Connor, 81 of Holyoke, died Saturday February 22, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. Rosemary was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Richard J. and Rose (O’Donnell) Broderick, and graduated from Holyoke High School. She completed her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s of Education Degrees (plus 30 hours) at Our Lady of the Elms College and had a long teaching career in both Holyoke and West Springfield. Rosemary was a member of the Elms College Board of Trustees, Past President and Treasurer of the Elms College Alumni Association, Catholic Women’s Club, Irish Cultural Center, and a Eucharistic Minister in her Parish, St. Thomas the Apostle in West Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis F. O’Connor in 2013. Rosemary is survived by two daughters: Kathleen O’Connor Brunner of West Springfield, and Anne Casella and her husband Jason of Holyoke; seven grandchildren: Alexandra Daniel, Daev Daniel, Brady Daniel, and Emily, Rachel, Joshua, and  Nicholas Wackerbarth; a sister-in-law, Shirley Broderick of Holyoke; 2 nieces: Patti Broderick and Kathleen Manijak and her family Mark and Conner; and her close friend Gini Koonz. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Broderick, a great grandson Silas and a great-nephew Kyle Manijak. The funeral will be held Friday February 28 at 8:45am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield. Burial will take place in St. Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
