HOLYOKE
Russell Edward Slocomb, 72, lifelong resident of Holyoke, passed away suddenly on Saturday May 16, 2020 at Holyoke Medical Center. Russell was born in Holyoke, son of the late Alan and Elsie (Anderson) Slocomb and was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Springfield College. He joined the United States Navy serving as a Machinist Mate on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War, retiring as a MMSCPO in 1999. Russell was a Maintenance Planner at the former Mt. Tom Power Plant in Holyoke. He was a member of United Congregational Church in Holyoke where he served as Head Deacon and also served on the Board of Governors. Russell was predeceased by his wife Sheri (Clark) Slocomb in 2017. He is survived by two children: Clark Slocomb and his wife Lynda of Milford, MA and Sarah Slocomb of Holyoke; a granddaughter Amanda Slocomb; and his brother, Walter Slocomb and his wife Mary Ann of Cranston, RI. Services will be held at a date and location to be determined with internment in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
