Born on December 4, 1943 in the City of Palmira, an administrative region called “Valle del Cauca” within the country of Colombia. She was called to her Eternal home surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Rosalino Jaramilo and Rosalia Caicedo. Preceded in death by her husband, Boy Sanmiguel. She is survived by her two sons: Jenner Bladimir and his wife Eliana of West Palm Beach FL. Lino G. Sanmiguel and his wife Alina, and her stepdaughter, Patricia Sanmiguel of Colombia. She is one of seven siblings: Usley Jaramillo. Rev. Bladimir Jaramillo. Emir Jaramillo. Sor Faraday Jaramillo. Preceded in death by Manfredy Jaramillo. Efren Jaramillo and Astridt. She has five grandchildren. Daniel Esteban Sanmiguel. Adrian Francisco Sanmiguel. Christian Lino Sanmiguel. Emmanuel Sanmiguel, Joel Sanmiguel and many nephews and nieces.
She completed her high school studies receiving a degree in commercial studies. She worked as a secretary for the Administrative Department of Security DAS in Bogota, Colombia. Semirna also worked as a flight attendant for ALM Netherlands Antillen Airline in the 60’s. She was certified in cosmetology, a gym instructor, and consultant in aesthetics beauty. Entrepreneur of her own gym and beauty salon for 10 years in Cali, Colombia.
She also resided in Holland, the Netherlands obtaining her Holland Citizenship. In 1994 she decided to live in the United States to live closer to her children and grandchildren. For many years she was a consultant of Mary Kay beauty products. Also visited and spent time with her son Jenner Bladimir and grandchildren in West Palm Beach Florida. While there she was part of St. Ignatius of Loyola Cathedral Evangelization group “Damas Catolicas”.
She consecrated herself to the Virgin Mary and the work of evangelization by making Holy Rosaries with other ladies of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Holyoke. Also promoted the Divine Mercy especially in her distribution of daily meditation books. She becomes a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Chicopee due to her changes in health to live with her son Lino and daughter in law Alina who took loving care of her until she was called home to her eternal rest.
She was a great woman of faith, a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and loving friend of the community that loved her. Known to many as “Nana”, Rosary Queen, La Princesa. Forever in our hearts. The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 19th at 8:45 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee. Burial will follow at Saint Rose de Lima Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
