Thaddeus J. “Ted” Pula, age 75, of South Hadley, passed away April 3, 2023 at Holyoke Medical Center. Ted was born in England on September 24, 1947 to Joseph and Sabina (Pukacz) Pula. He is survived by his wife Linda (Pulaski) Pula of 54 years, a daughter, Jessica Pula-Giroux and her husband Todd of Ludlow; a son, Gabriel Pula and his wife Cheryl of Granby; grandchildren: Jensen Giroux, Grace Pula, and William Pula; a brother Bruno Pula and his wife Donna of Ludlow; sister Christine “Chris” York and her husband Jerel of North Carolina; a sister-in-law Nancy Wendt and her husband Roger of New Hampshire; and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Ted attended Mater Dolorosa School and was a 1965 graduate from Holyoke High School, where he played both Varsity soccer and wrestling. He then received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UMass Amherst after serving in the United States Air Force. He was very proud to serve his country. Ted was a field rep and later a supervisor for the Springfield Social Security Administration until he retired. He lived most of his life in Granby, MA where he raised his family. He was treasurer of the Granby Athletic Association. He coached GAA youth teams for many years. He loved bringing his family on trips across the country. Ted was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed attending UMass football and basketball games. Ted loved fishing, gardening and enjoying time with his grandchildren. He was a great cook. We looked forward to his Thanksgiving turkey every year. Ted will be remembered by his great storytelling, witty personality, and high intelligence. The funeral will be held Tuesday April 11th at 8:45am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State Street, Granby. Committal with military honors will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday April 10th from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
